We made 100!
over 3 years ago – Mon, Feb 01, 2021 at 10:05:25 AM

We started this campaign as a #Make100 campaign, because we felt it would be truly awesome to be able to get 100 new white metal Rollecate miniatures made. We would have been very happy to just make 50. But this weekend, we actually crossed the 100 trains threshold! So we were of course very happy and quite in the party mood!

Yes, we made it! We are going to make 100 miniatures!

100 miniatures actually is quite a lot to make. So we checked with our metal caster to see whether 100 trains would be the limit. Luckily, they confirmed it would be possible to get some more trains made, at least 50. So we decided to continue this campaign and changed the name to "Made 100+ white metal Rollecate miniatures" accordingly ;)

Gossip: Rollecate expansion

You may have heard some gossip about a possible expansion to Rollecate. It is still early days, but it would at this point be foolish to deny anything. We have been working on an expansion for quite some while, but have now reached a point where we are confident enough to start planning for actual production of this expansion.

Even though it is still early, we can share with you that the expansion will be modular and contain about 8 different additions to the game that can all be applied separately. Some of the modules we are planning for include Stations, Switches, Buffer stops and Signals! So stay tuned!

A day of milestones!
over 3 years ago – Wed, Jan 27, 2021 at 09:02:10 AM

Good evening. Today was a really exciting day for us and this campaign. Today we hit several milestones. And that made us very happy and feel thankful for all the great support we received!

This afternoon, we received an email from Kickstarter to let us know our project received the #ProjectsWeLove badge. And that is of course a great honor. Even though the badge of course is not a seal of approval, it does feel like some sort of recognition for our hard work. We're very grateful for that.

A few minutes ago, we reached another important milestone: 200% funding. And that feels marvelous. When we started this campaign, we were merely hoping to be able to make a few Rollecate miniatures for those backers that missed our original campaign in 2019. But apparently, much more people are interested in these trains and that just feels lovely. This is a product made entirely by hand, and we are very sure the artisans that work on it very much appreciate your enthusiasm!

87 of 100 miniatures have been pledged for!

As you know, this campaign is one of the #Make100 campaigns for the year 2021. So our ultimate goal was to make 100 new white metal miniatures. And it very much looks like we will be able to do just that! So far 87 of the 100 miniatures have been pledged for!

And finally, we would like to share a review by Boardgame Heaven with you. If you'd like to learn more about Rollecate the game and get a better impression of the 'hidden' depths of this game, the video by the 'man with the mustache' is a definite must see!

We just welcomed our 80th backer!
over 3 years ago – Fri, Jan 22, 2021 at 07:02:28 AM

Good evening (well, to those in some time zones at least). A quick update to celebrate the 80th backer of this small campaign: welcome Susie_Cat! I'm really thrilled by all the support and am quite confident we'll be able to reach the 100 mark with this #Make100 campaign.

We're happy to welcome our 80th backer

I talked with the master metal caster from DTR and he promised to start work on the molds soon and make sure there will be some nice video footage of it, for you to see how it's done. So that's coming soon!

Also, I wanted to point you to the lovely Carnegie campaign that unfortunately had to cancel last Monday. They rebooted the campaign yesterday and luckily, everything worked out just fine. Having to cancel a campaign is really a terribly thing, so I'm really happy with the warm support they received from their community! So if you're interested in (arguably) one of the best train-themed games of this year, go check the Carnegie Kickstarter right now! Disclaimer: they're Dutch, too...

Carnegie Deluxe Edition now on Kickstarter!

Funded in just 12 hours!
over 3 years ago – Tue, Jan 19, 2021 at 05:48:40 AM

Good morning. Yesterday evening, just before 10pm (CET), while I was watching a wonderful episode of The Queen's Gambit with my fiancee, I checked my phone I saw our Kickstarter campaign had just reached 100%. It's an understatement to say that I was happy. We set this campaign to 3 weeks because we felt that might be necessary. To see it funded in just 12 hours way exceeded our expectations. So, this morning, after I slept off the celebratory Port, I recorded a short thank you video!

As an aside, let me point you towards another current Kickstarter campaign: Carnegie. Quined launched their much anticipated train game campaign yesterday afternoon. And it was going really well. Within a few hours they had almost reached their funding goal. And then fate struck: They had to cancel their whole campaign because of a serious error in the way shipping costs were calculated.

I personally spoke with Arno Quispel yesterday, and I can very much understand how he would feel. Quined is a small company, not unlike Gam'inBIZ and this kind of bad luck can really hit you in the face. Later this week the Carnegie campaign will be rebooted. And I hope you don't mind if I alert you to that with an update. Perhaps it can help Arno and his great team to get the project back on track (pun intended).
